  Today we celebrate another work anniversary! Terry Gaumer, Charitable Advisor, has been helping generous people support the causes and communities they care about for 8 years! Fun fact: Terry served as a volunteer on our Buchanan County Community Foundation impact committee before joining the CFNEIA team. Terry can most often be found traveling across our region working passionately to make an impact in our rural communities by connecting people and nonprofits.   Friday was a great day! Thank you to all the women who came out for our Women for Good nonprofit bus tour. What an incredible show of support for nonprofits serving women and girls in Black Hawk County. It was a beautiful day of learning and camaraderie between women.   We are thrilled to celebrate another work anniversary today! Stephanie Huff, Donor Relations and Administrative Specialist, is celebrating 2 years with CFNEIA! Stephanie is the first smile people see when they come to our office and often the first voice they hear on the phone. If you've been to an event in our space, she is the one making sure you are taken care of and is always going above and beyond for visitors and staff. She brings joy with her every day and we cannot express enough how much we appreciate everything she does to support our team and communities. Thank you, Stephanie!

  Professional Advisors! Join us on Tuesday, October 8 for a discussion on how you are on the front lines of keeping dollars in Iowa communities. The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa is part of a new statewide initiative called 5 for the Future, along with the Iowa Council of Foundations. Iowa is experiencing an unprecedented transfer of wealth from generation to generation. Talking to people about committing just 5% of their estate to local causes or communities would have an incredible impact on keeping local dollars doing good right here in our state. You work with people who love where they live — this workshop will focus on tools you can use to start conversations with your clients about supporting their local community through their charitable plans.

  Today, we are excited to celebrate Liz's work anniversary! 🎉 Liz Kurtt has served as CFNEIA Vice President of Finance and Operations for five years, and we continue to be amazed by her leadership and compassion. Liz has the incredibly critical job of maintaining the financial and operational integrity of the Community Foundation, and that only covers part of what she does. From human resources, policy, IT, and more, she is a rock for all of us and handles it with a calm coolness and approachability. She can also bring the fun and does as leader of our staff fun committee!Thank you, Liz, for everything you do! Your leadership and the effort you give to create strong communities is an example for all of us to follow!

  Yesterday, our board of directors and staff heard from Barb Prather, executive director of the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. Barb shared how and why NEIFB distributes healthy food and grocery products to 150 nonprofit partners across our shared region to help families and individuals with food assistance. In 2023 alone, NEIFB provided 8.4 million meals which equates to 10 million pounds of food! We are honored to partner with NEIFB and other organizations across our region working to solve food insecurity. Over the past five years, CFNEIA and its local affiliate community foundations have granted over $1 million to help organizations, including NEIFB, local food pantries, and many others, provide food to the communities they serve. Thank you to Barb and her team for working diligently to create food security for so many Iowans! We are proud to be your partner!
